Birthday Party Ends With 4 Teens Shot

A birthday party in Rocky Mount on Saturday ended with four people in the hospital with gunshot wounds.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A birthday party in Rocky Mount on Saturday ended with four people in the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police said that people gathered in a parking lot outside RM Wilson gym, 301 Hill St., shortly after midnight. Officers originally responded to calls about a fight.

When they arrived, police found teenagers who had been shot. Ryan Anthony Lee, 16, of Clark Street; Keeaneus Barnes, 18, of North Fairview Road; Jasmine Avent, 17, of Ketchpoint Drive and Montrell Staton, 17, of Clark Street were taken to Nash General Hospital.

Lee was later transported to Pitt Memorial Hosptial, where he was listed in fair condition on Sunday morning. The other three teens were treated and released.

Police said they do not have a suspect at this time.
