Bing, the Coatimundi

A visitor to WRAL.com's Pets section sent in a picture of Ollie, their coatimundi.  It prompted a lot of our visitors to ask, "What is that?!"

The coatimundi is a member of the raccoon family, found mostly in Central and South America.  It's like a raccoon with a long snout.

On our Pets section, "Ask Fifi" interviewed Ollie's owner.  You can learn a lot more about coatimundis there.

Ollie's owner has another coatimundi, named Bing -- and Bing apparently loves peppermints.  Here's some cool YouTube video of Bing eating a mint!  How many people have you seen who roll the mint around in their mouth like that?

To Whomever writes: People who sleep with their pets have issues: it's obvious your pets are not treated as part of the family and who are you to judge anyways. I'd much rather sleep with my sweet animals (that are cleaner than most humans) than sleep with some man that snores and keeps me up all nite. People who don't know how to treat their pets like part of the family and love them are the ones that have serious issues!

I saw him in the pet pics and had no idea what he was. He is so cute. Love him eating the peppermint. :)

People who sleep with their pets have issues....especially
those who sleep with 'un-domesticated' animals.
