Billy Graham 'weaker' since celebrating 95th birthday

Posted December 7, 2013

— Evangelist Billy Graham has been weaker in the month since he celebrated his 95th birthday, a Graham family spokesman said Friday.

Graham, who is at home with good vital signs, "does not appear to be in any imminent danger" despite being generally weaker in recent weeks, spokesman Mark DeMoss said in a statement.

Graham spent two days in an Asheville-area hospital in late November after experiencing respiratory congestion, an ailment that has forced him to receive treatment several times in the last few months.

"Franklin Graham said he would appreciate prayer for his father," DeMoss said Friday.

Politicians, business leaders, celebrities and hundreds of faithful followers celebrated Graham's 95th birthday on Nov. 7.

A big party was held at the Grove Park Inn to celebrate the occasion. Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Kathy Lee Gifford and Gov. Pat McCrory were some of the guests in attendance.

Maybe this is a sign from God telling Franklin to stop using his dad's name for political purposes and stop inviting right wing hacks like Palin and Trump (such Christian icons) to celebrations of his life. Billy was always careful about getting too involved in the political arena. Franklin seems to thrive on it. Or it could be he's just very old and no one lives forever.

Remind me why I should care?

Outhousecat, you would be wrong about that. Billy Graham has only been the name on the empire for a very long time now. He has retired from preaching and probably does little more than sit at home taking it easy. Everyone who is an evangelist is not a vulture.

“But these people remind me of vultures, just waiting for old Rev Graham to pass so they can take over the empire.”

These evangelists don’t exactly seem like they’re doing god’s work when they’re getting rich and building empires. Seems more like exploitation.

I guess he is weaker since his 95th birthday. Heck, I'm weaker since my 45th birthday. But these people remind me of vultures, just waiting for old Rev Graham to pass so they can take over the empire. I hope I'm wrong about that. Anyway, prayers for Billy's health and happiness the rest of his days.
