Bill to Allow Early Drug Refills for Storms Advances in House

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The summer and fall storm season is approaching, and legislation might be coming to help people get prescriptions filled when they fear life is going to be severely disrupted by weather.

A bill that has been approved by a state House committee and sent to the full chamber would allow pharmacies to dispense prescriptions before they are due to be refilled, if the governor has declared a state of emergency.

The bill would also require insurers to pay for early refills.
