DURHAM, N.C.Doughman, the intense competition that combines biking, swimming, running, and, of course, eating, is returning to Durham for its sixth year. While registration for the race is closed, you can still volunteer or come watch the race.

Racers participate in relay teams of four to complete two running legs, a swimming leg and a biking leg. After eating food prepared by local restaurants, racers head to the next location along the route, which is about 16 miles long.

This year's race restaurants include Durham favorites Dos Perros, Rise, The Parlor, Nosh, Dain's Place, Daisy Cakes, Loco Pops, Monuts and Firsthand Foods.

If you want to come watch, the race starts at 8 a.m. at the Durham Centre Parking Lot on the corner of Rigsbee and Seminary Streets.
Another incentive to join in the fun? The Doughman hEArTs Durham Food Fair, which will be held during the race from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The fair features food from Durham's unique restaurants and vendors, and tasting tickets are only $2 each (or 10 for $18). You can purchase tickets online or on-site.

This year proceeds from Doughman will benefit the Durham Public Schools Hub Farm, which aims to educate students through environmental stewardship and agricultural production while working with the local food system.

Over the past six years, Doughman has raised an incredible $100,000 for Durham organizations.
