Big Ed's City Market Restaurant will open a location in the Quail Corners Shopping Center in Raleigh.
Posted — UpdatedIn its first month of operation, Big Ed's North will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily before transitioning to its permanent operating hours in late August or early September. Those hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday through Monday.
Big Ed's North will seat about 180 guests and employ 60 people.
Big Ed’s was founded in 1958 by Big Ed Watkins, a native of Wake County. Big Ed’s Restaurant opened its current location in 1989 in the Downtown City Market in conjunction with the city of Raleigh’s revitalization project.
In 2006, the restaurant was bought by Sam and Lynn Hobgood.
"Positive guest interaction and feedback from our guests at the downtown location was our inspiration for opening a second restaurant,” Sam Hobgood said. “It’s a chance to enter a new market at a great location with a positive history. We now have the opportunity to grow our team from within and to help people have an exciting career in the food service industry"
