Big Ed's opens second location in north Raleigh
Big Ed's City Market Restaurant has opened in the Quail Corners Shopping Center in Raleigh.
Posted — UpdatedFor now, Big Ed's North will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday before transitioning to its permanent operating hours, which will include dinner service.
“Our menu has been a part of the Raleigh Community since 1958,” owern Sam Hobgood said. “We plan to continue to adhere to recipes that have been used for the past 57 years while offering a variety of daily specials. Breakfast is served all the time, cooked to order and freshly prepared on a daily basis using a variety of N.C. products.”
Big Ed's North seats about 180 guests.
Big Ed’s was founded in 1958 by Big Ed Watkins, a native of Wake County. Big Ed’s Restaurant opened its current location in 1989 in the Downtown City Market in conjunction with the city of Raleigh’s revitalization project.
In 2006, the restaurant was bought by Sam and Lynn Hobgood.
