Bicyclist injured after hit-and-run in Chapel Hill

One bicyclist was injured Saturday in a hit-and-run in Chapel Hill.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — One bicyclist was injured Sunday in a hit-and-run.

Officers with the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to a crash on Hillsborough Street near Bolinwood Drive. According to officials, a bicyclist was traveling north in the travel lane when a car, trying to pass on the left, struck the cyclist and continued driving.

The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries. 

Witnesses say the suspect was driving a light colored, small sport utility vehicle that may be damaged on the front right or right side.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
