Bicyclist dies after being hit on I-40 in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — A bicyclist struck by a box truck on Interstate 40 in Raleigh Monday morning has died.

Raleigh police said Thursday that Marc Anthony Mathis, 44, died Wednesday at WakeMed, where he was taken after the truck hit him around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

No charges are expected to be filed, a police spokesman said.

The truck, owned by Greensboro-based Direct Link Courier and driven by Kashta Quinn Brandon, 33, of Raleigh, was traveling the speed limit in the right lane when it hit Mathis from behind.
