Racing pigs take off at Hogway Speedway during the NC State Fair.

— The N.C. State Fair is in full swing and we have a list of attractions that you do not want to miss this year! All are free with admission to the fair.

K9s in Flight - We first got a look at these rescue dogs turned high-flying stars last year. These six dogs do dock diving, high jump, Frisbee leaps and more during this free show. Definitely worth checking out! See them every day of the fair at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. near Gate 9.

Circle "C" Racing Pigs - This is one of the most popular attractions at the fair every year. Watch hogs and little piglets race around a track for a cheese puff. It is way more fun that is sounds, believe us! See them daily at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 p.m. at the "Hogway Speedway" near Gate 9.

Down to Earth - These acrobatic silk aerial performers are making their fair debut. Don't miss their high-flying moves on the north Dorton Arena lawn.

Got to Be NC Wine and Craft Beer Exhibit - Located at the Hunt Horse Arena outside Gate 8, you can sample wine and craft beer from 12 rotating wineries and breweries. The exhibit is open from 2-8 p.m. daily.

Horseback riding lessons - As part of the "Year of the Horse," the N.C. Horse Council is offering five-minute riding lessons during the fair. It all happens at the Horse Complex. You can sign up for lessons at the fair and learn more about how to continue your training if you want to ride more.

If a beer can accidentally explodes, the most common collateral damage will be that people get wet. If a glass of red wine is spilled, and it isn't immediately followed by white wine, the widest collateral damage is ruined clothes.

If a gun were to accidentally discharge, people wind up dead or injured.

The gun ban at the state fair, which by the way is heavily patrolled by the police with guns already, was fought for by Steve Troxler, a Republican.

It's nice to know that common sense exists in both parties.

There's a hypnotist show in the folk life tent. it's off the beaten path, but we saw an amazing show last night. of course, it kinda depends on who comes on stage to be hypnotised.

The beer and wine samples are offered off the fairgrounds at the horse complex. You'd have to drink a lot of the little samples to get to the point of intoxication. If you purchase any, you can't carry it back onto the fairgrounds.

Fair seems to be missing several games and rides this year.

Beer/wine is OK, guns are verbotten? Where are all the liberals with their "what if's"? I guess it all depends on the liberal media's agenda.
