Top Cities for Treats 2017

Halloween is just a couple of weeks away, which means it's time to get those costumes figured out and load up on candy to hand out.

And, according to Nextdoor, a neighborhood social network, if you're in Raleigh, you better stock up. In its 2017 ranking of Top Cities for Treats, the City of Oaks (or, should I say, the City of Oh So Much Candy) came in at No. 3 behind Madison, Wis., and Omaha, Neb., and beating last year's local top finisher, Wake Forest. The town earned fourth place in Nextdoor's 2016 ranking.

But, before anybody takes any of this too seriously, let's just say that nothing about this is exactly scientific.

The ranking is based on Nextdoor's Treat Map, which lets users mark their home with a candy corn icon to indicate that they'll be giving out candy. There's also an option for those hosting a haunted house. And here's the pitch from Nextdoor: If you want Raleigh to hold on to its ranking - or believe Wake Forest deserves the top local spot, you better go over to Nextdoor and list your house.
Trick-or-treating will happen in Raleigh and across the Triangle on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Looking for Halloween and fall fun activities? Our fall fun database has you covered.
