Best bets: Live music this week

Looking for some live entertainment this week? Check out our picks for the best music performances daily.

Tuesday

Bryan Adams at Meymandi Concert Hall - You have no idea how much it hurt to type this. But sadly, it is the best bet of the day.

Wednesday

Yo La Tengo at Cat's Cradle - These guys played the last Hopscotch. I was surprised at how mellow the show was, but they are extremely talented and popular. This is a quality show, no matter what kind of music you are a fan of. Unless you only like death metal. Then you might want to punch yourself in the face...but you probably do that anyway.

Hopscotch Music FestivalDenney and the Jets at Local 506 - If you are in Chapel Hill and not at the Yo La Tengo show, these guys could be a fun Rock n Roll alternative.

Samantha Crain at Berkeley Cafe - This is just some good singing/songwriting. There is a good chance you will find me at this show...

Geoff Koch at Casbah - Indie/Folk rock... I think there is a large group of people out there that would find this show to be exceptional. His collection of songs is impressive, and his voice is appealing enough that this might be the surprise show of the day.

Thursday

LBLB at Tir na nOg - Always a good show. But I'd go just to see John Harrison (JPhono1)

MeteorEyes at The Cave - Dance/Pop. Mark Conner doesn't book a bad band, c'mon now...these guys would be a lot of fun in that small of a space!

FridayHear it from Hutch: Gray Young

Gray Young album release at Kings Barcade - Just don't miss this. One of my favorite local bands. Primarily instrumantal, but a great rock band. (Read more about Gray Young on Hutch's blog.)

Saturday

Calexico at  Cat's Cradle - Alternative/Folk/Country band out of Tucson, AZ.

Beach Boys vs. Beatles with Supreme Fiction, Morning Brigade, Goodnight Texas, Birds and Arrows, Small Lions, Bosnian Plums, Mary Johnson Rockers & the Spark at Local 506 - Nice hodgepodge here - I wish I could clone myself just for this show.
