— A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged Monday with robbing a Benson bank.

Michael Devon Irving is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and destroying/stealing criminal evidence. Irving is accused of robbing the PNC Bank at 400 South Wall Street at about 9:15 a.m. Monday. Benson police said Irving allegedly displayed a handgun to tellers, who were instructed to place money in a grocery bag, police said.

Irving was taken into custody without incident at about 3:45 p.m., police said.

"Items of evidence associated with the robbery were recovered from a vehicle the suspect had been riding in, along with an unspecified amount of U.S. currency," the department said.
