Most of us don’t think twice about drinking water from the tap, but that’s not the case for thousands of homeowners in Wake County.

One of those homeowners contacted WRAL Investigates asking for help.

What followed was an avalanche of pictures from homeowners of rusty water, stained sinks, corroding fixtures and taps with running brown water. We started digging into water quality standards and found this dirty water actually passes national guidelines. How can that be?

Monday on WRAL-TV's 6 p.m. news, WRAL Investigates Wake County water woes and why, after decades of dirty water, homeowners may finally get some relief. But there’s a price to pay for drinkable tap water.
