KENLY, N.C. — A swarm of escaped bees shut down a truck stop in Johnston County Saturday night.

Authorities said that thousands of bees escaped from a semi-truck at mile marker 106 along Interstate 95 in Kenly, and the insects started acting aggressively.

Beekeepers, including some from North Carolina State University, were called out to help round up as many of the bees as they could.

Three state troopers were stung, but no one was seriously injured.
