— A Bear Creek man died late Monday in a one-car crash in Chatham County, authorities said.

Ivan Christopher Seal, 38, was westbound on N.C. Highway 902 shortly after 10 a.m. when his car went off the right side of the highway. He over-corrected and ran off the left side of the road, where his car went down an embankment, hit a tree and overturned, authorities said.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said excessive speed might have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The portion of 902 that is west of 421 has recently been repaved and the shoulders are still extremely low. I wonder which side this happened on?

excessive speed might have been a factor

People slow down and pay attention to the speed signs and regulations of the highways and roads. They are there for a reason. Abide by the rules. My condolences to his family and many friends.

Maybe he died later in the day...was alive after the accident and then transported to the hospital where he died.
