Wendell Farms Barn Raising
WENDELL, N.C. — Wendell Falls is celebrating its one year anniversary Saturday with a Barn Raising, featuring bluegrass music, food truck and a square-dancing competition.

The family-friendly event is 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and will also include a bungee trampoline, magician, games, crafts and Muddy the Mudcat on the festival lawn.

Enjoy food and beer from D’Burrito, Wandering Moose, Little Dippers and Gizmo Brew Works.

Admission is free and open to the public.

And arrive early because at 1:30 p.m., I will be square dancing in an effort to win $1,000 for the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities in Raleigh. I'll be competing against five other local media folks. I square danced once in my life - in elementary school. It was raining and we had to do our physical education inside that day. It wasn't too hard, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up on Saturday!

I chose the Tammy Lynn Center because my brother has dealt with a developmental disability for his entire life. I've seen his struggles and wanted to find a local organization that supports families like ours.
