The company has operated in North Carolina's Research Triangle area since 1988 and is owned by graduates from North Carolina State University. They specialize in landscape design, installation of lawn equipment, and lawn care maintenance, excelling in each of these three areas, creating a holistic approach that moves from ideation, to implementation of the design, to maintenance once it's completed.

Based out of the Raleigh area, Barefoot & Associates utilizes the great turf and horticulture training from North Carolina State University by hiring their graduates to the team. The company's leadership has also benefited from this training. Scott Reeder, the president and CEO, and Eugene Foushee, the director of Landscape Services, both received diplomas from these N.C. State programs -- one in Turfgrass Management and the other in Horticulture Design.
