DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police asked the public for help to solve an armed robbery in which a store owner was assaulted Thursday morning.

Police said that two men wearing hoodies entered A-1 Barber, Beauty and Hair Styling, 3600 Hillsborough Road, around 10:20 a.m. One man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the owner.

The owner gave money to the robbers, who then punched him in the face, police said. The men took money from an employee and a customer, then struck the owner again.

One suspect was described as a black man, 17 to 25 years old, between 5 feet 10 and 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He has a dark complexion, wide-set eyes and a gap in his teeth. The witnesses were only able to give a vague description of the second suspect.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call police Investigator Salmon at 919-560-4582, ext. 29238, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
