— A newborn baby was recovering Saturday after being placed in the trunk of a car in Gastonia, authorities said.

Gastonia police said a woman, whose name has not been released, gave birth Friday night at her home. For reasons unknown, she placed the baby in a duffel bag in the trunk of a car and drove to her doctor’s office. The woman told doctors and police where to find the baby.

Police found the baby alive in the trunk early Saturday morning.

The baby’s condition was not immediately available, but officials said the infant was expected to be OK.

This is a very rare case that the baby is still alive, this girl must have had mental problems or just plain stupid.

Sounds like this lady has some mental issues. Very glad the baby is OK.

Attempted murder charge would be appropriate in this case.

What am I missing here? She did not think enough of the newborn to place it inside of the car with her, but instead she placed the baby in a duffle bag and put it in the trunk. Until further investigation, I believe the baby should be put in a foster home. Its a blessing the baby was found alive.
