The Avett Brothers and Counter Culture Coffee have teamed up to offer a special brew benefiting St. Jude's Children's Research Center.

The Concord, N.C.-based band and Durham coffee roaster announced Tuesday that through Feb. 28, $10 from the $16 purchase price of each 12-ounce bag of "St. Jude Project" coffee will be donated to the nonprofit which helps fight childhood cancer and assist families with expenses associated with it.

The bags contain a portrait of St. Jude done by the band's banjo player Scott Avett. The bags are available for purchase on the Counter Culture website.

The band has a special connection with St. Jude's. Bassist Bob Crawford's daughter, Hallie, was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. The family was days away from heading to a special hospital in Florida when they learned their insurance wouldn't be covering her treatment. They got hope through St. Jude's. Hallie was treated for brain cancer at St. Jude's Children's Research Center, where no family receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food.
