— A 10-month-old girl who died in November died of "abusive head trauma," according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

Cheyenne Emery Yarley died on Nov. 8, and her stepfather, Joshua Andrew Stepp, 26, of 1223 Silver Sage Drive, Apt. 303, was charged with first-degree murder the following day.

Stepp told a dispatcher in a 911 call that the child choked on toilet paper. The dispatcher tried to keep him calm during the six-minute call and walked him through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR until paramedics arrived.

The autopsy report indicates that paramedics and emergency room personnel at WakeMed found injuries to the child's right ear, face, vagina and anus.

They can take away the death penalty..but that will not stop the justice he will face in jail.. Even jailbirds have a code of conduct.. crimes against children are considered the worst of the worst in prison.

and most states are moving away from the death penalty...

That would be great if all states would.

Leave the killing of that nature to the Lord. Never go above him. Life in prison would be better served for all. He will get his just in prison. Also get a book on prison life and you might learn something.

"Taking a life will never bring the other back."

    No, it won't.

It will, however, ensure that guilty party won't take another life.

The laws that protect those who commit child abuse...make me wonder if the ones who make these laws aren't sexual child predators themselves....when are they going to start making it a death sentence for those who harm innocent children. That is the only way to stop what is happening on what seems to be a daily basis.

Taking a life will never bring the other back. Life in prison would be better. Prison life is not all that glamorous and exciting. It is dangerous and a person can even be killed there. It is not even safe to be there.

and most states are moving away from the death penalty... Whatever are these people thinking? Here is a very clear case where if he is proven guilty, he should be walked straight fro the courtroom to the E chair. BUT.. I bet this guy is still breathing air years from now and some lawyer will be wealthier over it.... Makes me sick

This is a horrible man indeed that never wanted this baby around in the first place. There had to be red flags and the mother just simply ignore it. What a shame. She thought more of this monster than her own child. May he get his just with life in prison with no parole. My condolences to the family. Just know the baby is in heaven now and at peace.
