Authorities: Woman took heroin, weapons into Durham courthouse
A Durham woman was arrested Monday after she tried to enter the Durham County Courthouse with drugs and weapons in her purse, authorities said Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedKelly Michelle Hawkins, 32, of 1816 Fletchers Chapel Road, was charged with felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released from jail after posting a $4,500 bond.
A deputy searched Hawkins' purse after a security scan showed what appeared to be a screwdriver and a razor blade inside, authorities said. The deputy found several small packages of heroin in the purse in addition to the screwdriver and razor blade.
Hawkins also was served with a warrant from Orange County charging her with making harassing phone calls.
