DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham woman was arrested Monday after she tried to enter the Durham County Courthouse with drugs and weapons in her purse, authorities said Tuesday.

Kelly Michelle Hawkins, 32, of 1816 Fletchers Chapel Road, was charged with felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released from jail after posting a $4,500 bond.

A deputy searched Hawkins' purse after a security scan showed what appeared to be a screwdriver and a razor blade inside, authorities said. The deputy found several small packages of heroin in the purse in addition to the screwdriver and razor blade.

Hawkins also was served with a warrant from Orange County charging her with making harassing phone calls.
