Authorities: Student at Fayetteville alternative school had gun

Posted January 13, 2014

— A student at Ramsey Street Alternative School in Fayetteville was arrested Monday after school resources officers found a gun at the school, authorities said.

Officers said the .32-caliber automatic handgun was inside a pocket of the unidentified 15-year-old's hooded sweatshirt.

School protocol requires that all students are searched prior to reporting to their assigned classrooms, and their outerwear searched and secured by staff, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The student was being held at the Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center on a felony charge of having a weapon on a school campus.

I really doubt it was an automatic handgun, that would make it a machine pistol. More likely it was a semi-automatic handgun.

The 5 o'clock WRAL TV story reported that the student claimed that he was hunting earlier and forgot he had the weapon on him......man, last time I took a .32 automatic hunting, I bagged the limit...quite a trusty "hunting pistol"...we all should take some good lessons from this guy...wow, didn't know a teenager at an alternative school was such an outdoorsman. Maybe if I use my .32 for hunting, I can get a discount for all the paperwork involved and for a hunting license.....wow!!
