— Authorities said Tuesday they are still trying to identify two people killed in a fiery weekend crash near Sanford.

A Chevrolet SUV was southbound on Pickard Road shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday when it ran off the right side of the road about 1.5 miles south of N.C. Highway 42 and collided with a mailbox, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The driver then over-corrected and crossed the center line of the road before over-correcting again and running off the right side of the road a second time.

The SUV then flipped, slammed into a utility pole and caught fire.

A witness was able to pull Tyrann Snipes, 22, of Sanford, from the back seat, but the driver and another passenger were trapped inside the burning vehicle and died, authorities said.

It says they were able to pull him out. Shouldn't he be able to tell you who else was in the car?
