Authorities searching for Cary bank robber

Posted September 10, 2013

Authorities are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday of a bank in Cary.

Town officials said a man walked into the Fifth Third Bank in the 7000 block of Tryon Road about 11 a.m., threatened he had a gun and demanded money.

He ran from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. Officials said the robber never displayed a weapon, and no one was injured.

The man was described as white, in his late 20s, about 6 feet 1 inch tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, aviator-style sunglasses, a white T-shirt and dark blue pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

I've seen the building shown in the picture on several occasions. If the police think it would be helpful, I'd be glad to tell them where and when.

Bank Robber is a harsh term. We should say an Unauthorized withdrawl. This way we won't hurt any ones feelings.

Yes we would love a picture to identify with. When caught, he will be seeing 20 years in prison.
