Authorities: Sanford father, son ran cocaine ring

A Sanford father and his son were arrested and charged with running a cocaine distribution ring, investigators from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation said Thursday.

SANFORD, N.C. — A Sanford father and his son were arrested and charged with running a cocaine distribution ring, investigators from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and State Bureau of Investigation said Thursday.

Billy Lee McLean, 64, of 2267 Country Line Rd., is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell and deliver cocaine, felony maintaining a residence used for unlawfully keeping or selling controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Lee County jail Thursday afternoon under a $20,000 bond.

Billy Kintay McLean, 37, also of 2267 Country Line Rd., is charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine, five counts of selling and delivering cocaine, five counts of felony maintaining a residence used for unlawfully keeping or selling controlled substances and five counts of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Lee County jail Thursday afternoon under a $400,000 bond.

Authorities said they investigated the pair, who allegedly ran the operation out of their home, for nearly a year.
