Authorities probe man's death in Hyco Lake
The death of a man whose body was found in Hyco Lake in June is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said Friday.
Posted — UpdatedRobert Allen Michalec, of Lakeshore Road in Leasburg, was found in the lake on June 26 at a spot that wasn't far from his home, authorities said. He was last seen the previous evening on a nearby boat dock, they said.
A preliminary autopsy by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office has determined Michalec died of blunt force trauma, and Caswell County Sheriff’s Office investigators have ruled out the possibility of the trauma being caused by an accident, authorities said.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting on the case.
