Authorities: Man sells organ to church, claims it was stolen

Lamar Olin White was charged with one count each of attempted insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

RALEIGH, N.C. — State Department of Insurance agents and Raleigh police officers on Friday arrested a Raleigh man on fraud charges.

Lamar Olin White, 26, whose last known address was 9210-66 Bruckhaus, Apt. 114, was charged with one count each of attempted insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Authorities said White sold a Hammond organ to Summit Church in Durham for $2,400, then filed a claim with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for $12,990, stating that the organ had been stolen from his home.
