Authorities: Husband beaten, stabbed for smoking at home
A Roanoke Rapids woman has been charged with beating and stabbing her husband after becoming enraged that he was smoking inside their home, authorities said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedSandy Johnson Garner, 28, of Thomas Jefferson Drive, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats. She was being held without bond in the Halifax County jail.
Halifax County Sheriff's Office investigators said Dayshon Garner, 24, was beaten with a broomstick and stabbed with scissors after he smoked a cigarette in the bathroom of his home last week. Sandy Garner had a strict rule about not smoking in the house, investigators said.
