Gerri Newkirk

— A woman was shot to death in her Clinton apartment this week by mistake, authorities said.

Police responded to a report of shots at 219-B East Morrissey Blvd. at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and found Gerri Newkirk, 30, dead in her bed.

Investigators said that a front bedroom window had been broken out, and they believe a male friend who was staying with Newkirk was the target of the shooting.

The case remains under investigation by Clinton police and the State Bureau of Investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Investigator Tracy Jackson or the Clinton Police Department at 910-592-3105.

The statement has Not been changed, it seems You have misspoken.

Obviously your just a sexist troll since you immediately have to make unfounded comments to make yourself feel BIG or smarter than everyone else.

Either statement says the friend killed her, whether that friend took direct or indirect action, that friend was the root cause of her death, there-fore the friend killed her.

You have changed your statement. There is a difference in your friend killing you and your friend being the reason someone else killed you. Just admit you misspoke and move on. You must be a female.

Since the friend obviously was involved in something shady, that friend involved this woman in it.... therefore this friend got the woman killed

I'm having a hard time believing she did not know about her roomer's history and his associates.

The article says that someone was targeting the friend. While she may have picked the wrong one to let in the house, it was not the friend that shot her, so I don't know where the statement that friends can kill faster than enemies comes from in this case.

Today it seems friends can kill faster than enemies. At least you know an enemy and expect the outcome, but a friend.... you never know whats around the corner.

I guess its a new definition of "keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

I am so sorry for this woman who gave shelter to a friend, just to be executed for doing so. It is so hard these days to know everything about our friends. Again, sorry she did not know this "friend" was her road to death.
