FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A Holly Springs firefighter and his 2-month-old daughter suffered injuries after they were hit by a drunken driver Sunday, according to investigators.

Tammy Schedler, 42, allegedly ran a stop sign and hit a car driven by Nicholas Brown about 1:30 a.m. in Fuquay-Varina.

Brown, 26, and his young daughter were transported to Western Wake Med in Cary. Brown was listed in stable condition. His daughter suffered bumps and bruises, but was later released from the hospital, officials said.

Schedler was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle, officials said. She was airlifted to Duke University Medical Center and was later listed in good condition.

Schedler will be charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt, officials said.
