RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities arrested a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery after a brief chase Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said Jonathan Wilkins robbed a Wachovia Bank, located at 8910 Six Forks Road in Raleigh earlier in the day and later fled the scene in a red Pontiac Trans Am.

Police chased Wilkins until he wrecked the car in the driveway of a home on Whitestone Road in the Stonebridge subdivision. Wilkins then fled into a wooded area behind the residence, police said.

A dog in the Wake County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit caught Wilkins shortly after 5 p.m.

There were no reports of injuries, and it was unclear how much, if any, money Wilkins took from the bank. He is being held at the Wake County Jail.
