Authorities arrest 123 in Robeson crackdown

Federal, state and local law enforcement have arrested 123 people as part of a three-day effort to crack down on violent crime in Robeson County.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — Federal, state and local law enforcement have arrested 123 people as part of a three-day effort to crack down on violent crime in Robeson County.

The U.S. Marshal's Service said those arrested between Tuesday and Thursday during Operation Zero Hour face a combined 170 charges, including murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, child molestation and parole and probation violations.

"We went after individuals that basically have thumbed their nose at justice. We went after people that had warrants, people that were on the run," U.S. Marshal Scott Parker said.

Some of the offenders were arrested out of state, including one who was picked up in New York. In addition, the roundup led to the discovery of 22 firearms and a bullet-proof vest.

"We had people charged with homicide got the word and came and turned themselves in. We got family members who brought items in, so, you know, the word was on the street," Parker said.

Authorities said the following men are among some of the more notable arrests during the crackdown:

Timothy Locklear, charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree rape
Donald Maynor, charged with accessory after the fact to murder and felony death by vehicle
Christopher McLaurin, charged with sexual offense against a child
Donald McIntyre, charged with kidnapping, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and multiple parole violations
Darien Lewis, charged with accessory after the fact to murder in relation to a double homicide

Marshals say more arrests are expected, including some in other states.

Aside from the Marshal's Service, the effort included officers and investigators from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the state Department of Public Safety, the Lumberton Police Department, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Fayetteville Police Department, the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, the FBI and the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, as well as state and federal prosecutors.
