Listen to Your Mother is seeking auditions for the fifth and final show here in the Triangle.

The national series features live readings on essays about motherhood and is produced locally by Triangle local moms and writers, who have been organizing sold-out shows since they launched a version of it here. The show's founder recently announced in August that this would be the final season.

The shows feature essays about motherhood. Often they are by mothers, but they don't have to be. Dads, uncles, aunts, sisters and anybody else is welcome to share their own stories about the moms in their lives - or what motherhood means to them. All together, the stories are a wonderful representation of motherhood - the good, the bad, the sad and the silly.

To participate, you'll need to audition. Here are the details.

Auditions will be held Feb. 4, Feb. 5 and Feb. 6. Come prepared with a reading, along with two printed copies to share with the organizers. Stories should be no more than five minutes long. For inspiration and ideas, see previous stories on the LTYM YouTube channel and 2016’s Raleigh-Durham stories.

They'll announce the cast Feb. 10. The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., May 5, at Jones Auditorium on the campus of Meredith College.

The local show's website has more details, including how to sign up for an audition spot.
