Posted — UpdatedAttention teachers: The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences is hosting a special event designed just for you.
The downtown Raleigh museum's SciREN Triangle Networking Event and Open House is 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday. The evening showcases the wide array of museum educational programs and opportunities as well as lesson plans from local scientists, according to a press release.
The open house is designed for preschool to high school educators, who can preview museum exhibits and activities and work out the logistics of school field trips, talk directly to museum educators and research staff, and learn about distance learning and other opportunities.
Through a partnership with SciREN (Scientific Research and Education Network), educators can also meet more than 60 local scientists ready to distribute curriculum-centered lessons based on their research, according to the release.
Megan Chesser, museum curator of teacher education and a coordinator of the event, says it's not just for science teachers. “Any educator can come and make new connections to enhance their instruction or share with their students," she said.
