Attempted murder charge filed in Raeford shooting
Hoke County authorities charged a man Friday with attempted murder in connection with a shooting at a party two weeks ago.

RAEFORD, N.C. — Hoke County authorities charged a man Friday with attempted murder in connection with a shooting at a party two weeks ago.
Demond L. Brown, 36, no known address, was being held in the Hoke County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
A fight started as a crowd of people left a party at 325 Ratley St. in Raeford on Sept. 6, and authorities said a man armed with a 12-gauge shotgun shot a man in the chest.
The victim was able to identify his assailant after recovering from surgery, authorities said.
The shooting remains under investigation, and more arrests are expected, authorities said.
