The UNC-TV tent at the N.C. State Fair will be busy Saturday with a variety of special events.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Home Depot will bring one of its free kids workshops to the fair. Best for ages 5 to 12, the workshops offer a chance for kids to build fun and useful projects that often can turn into gifts.

At the same time, UNC-TV will feature a variety of different PBS Kids characters, including Bob the Builder, Clifford and Curious George.

And, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, middle school volunteers from Marbles Kids Museum's STEM Play Corps will have hands-on activities for young children related to energy, nanoscience and engineering.

The activities are free with admission to the fair. Find the UNC-TV booth next to Dorton Arena.
