AT&T service restored in eastern N.C.

AT&T has restored service to wireless phone customers in eastern North Carolina, a company representative said Thursday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — AT&T has restored service to wireless phone customers in eastern North Carolina, a company representative said Thursday morning.

An "equipment issue" began affecting customers in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee around 7 a.m. Wednesday, spokeswoman Crystal Prince said.

"AT&T technicians worked to resolve the issue, and service is now restored," Prince said in a statement released around 9 a.m. Thursday. "We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."

AT&T wireless customers in Raleigh, Carthage, Sanford, Goldsboro, Fayetteville, Wilson and Durham reported to WRAL News that they had trouble making calls and receiving voicemail messages.
