AT&T service restored in eastern N.C.

Posted July 22, 2010

— AT&T has restored service to wireless phone customers in eastern North Carolina, a company representative said Thursday morning.

An "equipment issue" began affecting customers in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee around 7 a.m. Wednesday, spokeswoman Crystal Prince said.

"AT&T technicians worked to resolve the issue, and service is now restored," Prince said in a statement released around 9 a.m. Thursday. "We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."

AT&T wireless customers in Raleigh, Carthage, Sanford, Goldsboro, Fayetteville, Wilson and Durham reported to WRAL News that they had trouble making calls and receiving voicemail messages.

"I wonder if AT&T will reflect the time without service on our bills. Yeah right." Actually I've had similar issues with other carriers in the past and they generally will issue credit for the downtime, However in the past, I've usually had to ask for it...

I started having problems with my phone at 8am on Tuesday. I lost all signal by 9am Tuesday and did not get any back until this morning around 8am. Even then it was about 1/3 as strong as normal and no internet access. It seems to be back to normal now. I wonder if AT&T will reflect the time without service on our bills. Yeah right.

problem was fixed until about an hour ago. I am in Rocky Mount and once again have no service, just like yesterday.

I could make calls in the Raleigh area yesterday, but the 50 SMS messages I should have received yesterday all came in at 3:30 this morning...with few coming in around 7am.

About 6 weeks ago, the 3G service was out in the Carolinas for several hours...but they didn't advertise this.

Been with ATT for about 5 years and have been with everyone else, so I can say ATT does not do this often . They are as good as any and I have no real complaints. One day without service was a bit inconvenient, but stuff happens. Let's get on with it.

I have Verizon and I got a droid x. It runs better than an iphone. keep your iphone and cruddy service or get a droid x and never have any issues.
