Durham, N.C. — A 35-year-old Durham man died and two people were injured in a head-on collision on Old Oxford Road Saturday night, state troopers said.
Roger McMillian was going north near Riverside Drive around 5:30 p.m. when he moved into the the southbound lane to try to pass another vehicle, troopers said. He saw an oncoming vehicle in the southbound lane, swerved into the northbound lane, overcorrected and ended back up in the southbound lane. He hit the oncoming vehicle head-on.
McMillian died of his injuries. The driver and passenger in the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Duke Hospital. Their names haven't been released.
The wreck happened in no-passing zone, troopers said.

@KittenClaws, I don't believe that someone, young enough to go to work every day, is driving 40 in a 55 every morning. If you think they are a danger on the road with all of their distractions, you should do all of us a favor and call the police non-emergency number and (maybe anonymously) report this person, so they can get them off the road.

Wow thanks for stating the obvious, isn't that why the article mentioned it was a no passing zone?! As for passing zones on two lane roads, if you don't feel safe doing it then please leave it to experienced drivers who do have the right to pass in certain zones per DOT traffic engineers.

It's no wonder that bicyclists, motorcyclists, school buses, tractors, garbage trucks and every other vehicle that shares the road is put in such grave peril by so many impatient motorists.
