At least 50 vehicles vandalized in Raleigh, Durham

Windows in at least 20 vehicles parked on along Smallwood Drive, Faircloth Street and Brooks Avenue in Raleigh were shot out overnight Wednesday by what appeared to be a pellet gun. Some had windows smashed.

Nothing appeared to be stolen from the vehicles, residents and police said.

In Durham, police have received at least 30 similar reports of vandalism since Tuesday morning – most of them being along residential streets near N.C. Highway 55 and Interstate 40.

Alexia Brewer, who lives at the Cameron Village Condominiums, said her husband heard a noise outside early Wednesday morning and called 911 after he confronted two young men who had been looking in their window.

"I think we all have to really keep our eyes open and just be aware of things that are not normal in the neighborhood," Brewer said.

Investigators have not made any arrests, but a spokeswoman for Durham police said they are consulting with Raleigh police to determine if the acts are related.
