At-Home Dad Convention in Raleigh this weekend

The national convention will draw dads and speakers from across the country.

The National At-Home Dad Convention is in Raleigh this weekend, bringing dozens of stay-at-home dads to the Triangle for activities, workshops and more.

Registration is still open for the three-day conference, which starts Friday and runs through Sunday at Marbles Kids Museum. James Kline, an Apex dad who I've written about before, organized the event, the 20th annual convention for the National At-Home Dad Network. Estimates peg the number of at-home dads across the country at about 1.75 million, according to the group.

Highlights include an opening keynote speech from Scott Behson, blogger and author of "The Working Dads Survival Guide," at 9 a.m., Saturday.

The closing keynote will come from Josh Levs, a CNN journalist and author of “All In: How Our Work First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses – and How We Can Fix It Together." Levs fought his employee and won his battle for paid paternity leave. He speaks on Sunday.

There also are a number of break out sessions and activities, including an arena-style car seat challenge that involves dads competing with each other to install various car seats.
