Art museum lines up kids, family programs for March

The N.C. Museum of Art has several regular programs each month for kids. I thought I'd highlight a couple of them this month to put them back on your radar ...

What's in the Box? is designed for kids ages 2 to 5 and their adults. Each session includes art projects and an opportunity to hunt for a piece in the museum's collection. I've taken my younger daughter to this and can't recommend it highly enough.

The cost is $3. It's scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., March 7 and March 21. It's offered first come, first served. If you want to get in to the 10:30 a.m. session, get there by 10 a.m. to sign up.

And the museum's Family Fun Saturday for families with kids ages 5 to 11 includes a gallery tour plus studio workshops. Families explore the museum's collection and then create projects together. The fee is $5. It's scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., March 9 (the topic is mapmakers) and March 23 (the topic is movers and shakers).

Register for the Saturday programs by calling 919-715-5923, going online to the museum's website or in person at the Museum Box Office.

For details about both and to see what's scheduled for April and May, go to the museum's website.
