— An abandoned house went up in flames early Friday morning in what investigators are calling a suspicious fire.

The fire ripped through the building on Faison Ridge Road shortly after 1 a.m.  Firefighters spent about an hour getting it under control.

Although circumstances led officials to deem the fire suspicious, investigators had not determined its cause.

Hope it wasn't someone's residence that was mistaken for a fire practice house like the one up North last week!

Yeah this place has been up for sale for a long while but no one is going to buy it.... better burn it down and collect ins money.

By the way I drove past it on my way to work and was still smoldering

That property was up for sale. So, that could have been why the power was on.

I listened to that whole thing on the scanners and one aspect puzzled me. The power was on to the structure. Progress Energy had to come out and turn it off. If it was abandoned (and it was -- even the FD knew that when they got there,) why was the power still on? Anyone know?

Glad the house was abandoned and no one was in it during the time of this "suspicious" fire. To add murder/manslaughter to arson would be too much sad news to read on this friday morning.
