GARNER, N.C. — A 14-year-old who Garner Police say fired a BB that shattered the window of an SUV was in police custody Sunday night. Police categorized the conflict between two vehicles near Lake Benson Park as road rage.

They said the teen was a passenger in a Mazda driven by Luis Alexander Rincon-Romero, 18, of Garner, when he fired the BB gun into the rear of a Ford Expedition, shattering its back windshield.

An infant, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old were riding in the backseat of the Expedition at the time of the shooting, but no one in the car was injured, police said.

Rincon-Romero was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police did not say whether the teen would be charged with a crime. Both were taken into custody.
