— Louisburg police on Thursday arrested a woman in connection with the robbery of a 90-year-old woman inside a retirement home last week.

Kelli Monique Awuonda, 28, of 3011 Jehossee St. Apt. 201 in Raleigh, was charged with common-law robbery and obtaining property by false pretenses.

She was placed in the Franklin County jail under a $100,000 bond.

Police said that Awounda went inside Louisburg Manor on Friday and told the victim she was there to take an X-ray and needed to remove the woman’s jewelry.

A ring was stolen, police said. It wasn't clear if the stolen property had been returned.

The initial police report indicated that two women committed the robbery, but police said their investigation determined that Awounda acted alone.

28 years old; she looks more 48. Who in their right mind would rob a 90 year old woman. That's just crazy and ridiculous.
The old (especially 8 score and 10, as my father would say)are to be respected in the utmost. People have got to go back to basics and teach their children old-school; how to respect their elders. Honor their mother and their father that your days may be long. This woman was somebodies mother.

Give her an A for creativity. Give her an F for trying to scam a 90 year old lady. Give her 30 cause she deserves it.

A thief is the lowest of the low. But stealing from a 90 year old woman in a nursing home has got to be the worst.
