Louisburg, N.C. — Louisburg police on Thursday arrested a woman in connection with the robbery of a 90-year-old woman inside a retirement home last week.
Kelli Monique Awuonda, 28, of 3011 Jehossee St. Apt. 201 in Raleigh, was charged with common-law robbery and obtaining property by false pretenses.
She was placed in the Franklin County jail under a $100,000 bond.
Police said that Awounda went inside Louisburg Manor on Friday and told the victim she was there to take an X-ray and needed to remove the woman’s jewelry.
A ring was stolen, police said. It wasn't clear if the stolen property had been returned.
The initial police report indicated that two women committed the robbery, but police said their investigation determined that Awounda acted alone.
