Johnny McKoy, charged in Fairmont slaying
FAIRMONT, N.C. — Police said Tuesday that they have charged a man in the 2008 slaying of a Fairmont Middle School janitor.

Willie Christie, 55, was found dead in his Fairmont home on May 20, 2008. He had been stabbed five times, police said.

Johnny Terrell McKoy, 31, of 1504 Sisal Drive in Fayetteville, was charged late Monday with murder in the case.

Investigators haven't released a possible motive in the case or what evidence might link McKoy to the crime, but they said that he worked for Christie's lawn care business.

Christie's death was the first of two violent acts to rock Fairmont Middle.

In April 2009, former Principal James Hunt was shot in the face while driving to school. He has said the shooting was in retaliation for his stand against drugs and gang activity.
