DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was arrested Friday and charged in a November 2007 shooting death, authorities said.

Rodney McLaurin, 38, of 110 Lick Creek Lane, was charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of kidnapping.

Steven L. Mitchell, 38, was found dead behind an abandoned house at 3207 Wake Forest Highway on Nov. 6, 2007. Authorities said he had been shot in the head.

Durham County deputies found Shawn Hicks in the front yard of the residence with a gunshot wound. He was treated at Duke University Hospital and released.

In January 2008, deputies charged Reginald Carter, 29, of 505 Elmira St., in the case. He was already in the Durham County jail on unrelated charges.
