— A masked gunman stole cash from Sandhu's convenience store, 1225 Amelia Church Road, and left in a car stolen from a Garner church shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, Clayton police said.

One employee was present during the robbery, police said. She told police that the robber left in a burgundy 1994 Olds Cutlass vehicle driven by a getaway driver.

Officers found the getaway vehicle abandoned nearby in the parking lot of Parkside Village Apartments, at Guy and Amelia Church roads. Investigators believe the two men then left into another vehicle that had been waiting for them in the apartment complex.

Officers searched the area but did not find the men.

Investigators determined the abandoned car had been stolen earlier Sunday from the parking lot Capital Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1308 U.S. Highway 70 in Garner.

Police described the gunman as a heavy-set man of average height. He was wearing a dark shirt and jeans.

A description of the driver of the getaway vehicle was not available.

Anyone with information about the robbery, getaway vehicle at Parkside Village of the car theft in Garner should call Clayton Police at 919-553-4611 or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919-359-8479.

In my college crime scene class, we learned that eye witnesses descriptions aren't always detailed enough because the person was obviously caught up in everything that was happening. Do you think in the heat of the moment you would remember sufficient details of a maked purp holding you at gunpoint? Put yourself in her shoes...that gas station is only about 3 yrs old and that kind of thing doesn't happen in Clayton often.

Must have been a long sleeve shirt as well. Sorry, I left that one out.

I guess he / she / it was also wearing gloves as well since we can't even get a skin tone. Very sad.

Being PC should not be a concern when reporting the news.

So they drove the getaway car across the street. Guess he was too heavy-set to walk.

Could be a state employee needing money for his health care increase because of his weight.

"WRAL- Please get your head out of the sand and be responsible enough to tell us if the suspects were White, Hispanic, Oriental, Alien, Indian, or Black."

I guess the "masked" gunman wasn't nice enough to leave a photo of himself at the store.

WRAL- Please get your head out of the sand and be responsible enough to tell us if the suspects were White, Hispanic, Oriental, Alien, Indian, or Black. I am sure the Clayton Police have more than your description to go on. Who are you afraid of offending, the criminals?

Seriously? This is all...it could be anyone....let's not let political correctness keep us from identifying people in every possible capacity!
