ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A masked man broke into a woman's house, threatened her with a gun and stole jewelry Sunday morning, Rocky Mount police said.

The victim told police that a man wearing black gloves and a scarf over his face entered an unlocked door to her house on South Tillery Street shortly before 8 a.m. He forced her to the floor in the living room and brandished a small, black semi-automatic handgun, possibly a .25-caliber, police said.

The man repeatedly asked where her money was and said he would shot her if she didn't tell him, the victim told police. He searched her bedroom but didn't find anything, so he dragged the woman to bedroom doorway.

She told him where to find her jewelry, and he stole a silver diamond bracelet, gold charm bracelet, a silver necklace with diamond pendants, 20 gold and silver rings, and credit cards, police said. He then fled.

The woman was cut on the wrist during the home invasion.

Police searched the area and processed the scene for evidence but did not find a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
